Normally I just love her novels. I expect lots of twists and turns, realistic dialogue and believable characters and circumstances. This novel however, was way too gruesome for me. I found myself wanting to skip over scenes because they were too gory or descriptive. Perhaps my taste in suspense novels is changing, but I don't enjoy reading horrific details about gruesome murders.
The characters were believable, and the dialogue was still good. Fielding still managed to write seriously, with some humour throughout it. She also managed to trick me with one of her usual twists in the plot. I was glad that this part of her writing was still consistent.
Out of all the books written by her, I wouldn't recommend this one, but rather one of her earlier ones.
